JEHOVAH EBENEZER

JEHOVAH EBENEZER

June 23rd 2019 made it one year since the crisis on the Plateau in which more than 10 villages were attacked in one night by Fulani herdsmen, killing hundreds and displacing many more. The village in which our base is located was one of such.

Many people and indeed whole communities, are yet to recover from the devastation and loss of that single night. In the aftermath of the crisis, a lot of changes took place.

For us as a mission, it was not an easy time as our secular schools, all of them, had to be shut down. The Mission training school and mission offices however remained open, for we had all signed away our lives. Many were forced to

reevaluate their calling, if indeed God had called them and if they were willing and ready to lay down their lives. Most of the non-missionary staff opted to leave out of fear, despite reassurances of being in Goshen, for indeed, that was the word given to our leader by God and we’ve held unto it. We saw it manifest that fateful day for though they passed in front and behind our compound on the rocks, they didn’t enter into our base. Glory!

Our students were recalled in August 2018 to properly round off the last session and begin a new one…less than half came back in Messiah College and Kauna Kiddies, our boarding primary school. Majority of those who returned were children of IDPs, who are on full scholarship.

One year down the line, we have seen the goodness of God in Agape Missions. He’s brought teachers to fill in the vacant posts and even successfully graduated a set from all our schools: Primary, Secondary, and the Mission school. We’ve had different reasons to celebrate: weddings, dedications, birthdays, etc. He’s helping us to also help the community through donations and support from the body of Christ, in rebuilding and resettlement efforts. Indeed, He’s been EBENEZER.

“The Great Commission should never be treated as the great suggestion”, Charles R. Swindoll. The command is express: “Go ye… (fill your name in the blank) into all the world…”(Mark 16:18).

Believers must go: Go to preach the Gospel, Go to heal the sick, Go to cast out devils, etc. Get out of your comfort zone and go!

Do you feel that the Master is calling you to a life of service with Him? By all means, answer YES

and move in faith. It’s okay to be afraid: sometimes the fear/anxiety never leaves – do it afraid and He’ll meet you halfway. Peter stepped

out of the boat while the storm was still raging…he did it and Jesus was there to catch him. You can too.

Do you feel yours is not to go to the mission field as a frontier missionary? There’s still a place for

you.

You can GIVE…your time, your money, your material goods, etc.

TIME: Locate a mission agency and put in time for short service. No time is too short or too long: 3-6

months while waiting for admission or NYSC, 1 or more years after NYSC, your leave period, etc. No

time is too short to use your skill in service to the Master.

MONEY: You can give your money too. If you cannot go, your money can, although this should

not be an escape route for those that have a specific call to go. There’s so much your money

can do: It can make the difference between life and death for a sick person. It can determine if a

missionary child will have food to eat or sleep hungry, if he/she will continue with school or be

sent home for fees. No matter how small or big, it IS important, it CAN make a difference.

MATERIAL GOODS: Clothes, shoes, bags, books, toys… the list is endless. You can donate any of

these. It’ll make a difference in someone’s life. Cars, motorbikes, laptops, printers…there’s a place for each of them. Giving is essential for the work to move forward. It is you that God wants to use to provide for the work and the workers. GIVE.

There’s also the place of PRAYERS. Do you love to pray? Have you been called into intercession? Missionaries on the frontier need a lot of prayers. They are always under attack from the enemy. Your prayers are essential to keep them

going. Spend time daily, no matter how short, to say a prayer for missionaries and mission

agencies. It goes a long way. You can also gather with friends/or family, maybe once a day or weekly, and pray for them and their work. It is of vital importance.

No matter who you are, no matter your age, discipline/career, there’s a place for you in God’s grand scheme. Become practically involved in MISSIONS.

God is counting on you and so are we!
